THANK-YOU SO MUCH TO BOXGROVE PRIMARY SCHOOL FOR THEIR FOOD DONATION! YOU ALL REALLY MADE A DIFFERENCE TO PEOPLE'S LIVES.

If you can help us with donations of foodstuffs or household goods, we have a quick list of current items we could really use below. Please do make sure any food donated is in date, in unopened packaging and derives from a commercial kitchen or from someone with a current food hygiene certificate. Thanks again.

VOLUNTEERING

Number Five has a small core of staff but is greatly aided by both regular and occasional volunteers who bring a breadth of talent to help out! If you feel you might be interested in contributing to our activities, please do note that our opening hours are 07:45-10:00hrs and 18:00-22:30hrs, seven days a week. Due to the nature of the work we also ask that all volunteers be aged over twenty-one years.

Are there any obligations once I have offered to help?  There are no obligations in terms of the level of commitment or regularity: you might wish to offer your help as a one-off event, occasionally, or on a more regular basis.

However, due to the nature of our work and our responsibility towards you and others, we ask all potential volunteers to read health & safety information and complete some paperwork before they start volunteering with us. Volunteering can be very rewarding but is not for everyone.  Clients can display challenging behaviour at times but they do appreciate the support and compassion that you may be able to offer.

Presently, we are just looking for anyone with a current level 2 Food Hygiene certificate who wants to help us with our cooking:

From home – For many it is easier to cook from your own kitchen, we can provide you with large plastic containers to fill! You could bring the dish along to Number Five during opening hours and we can either keep it for the next meal-time or freeze it for future use.

On-site – You might like to come into Number Five and use our kitchen facilities to cook a meal for 16 hungry bellies. The best time to cook a new dish is from 19.30-21.30hrs after the main rush has settled.  If you are an early bird, though, you might prefer to come along from 0800 to 1000hrs.

You can either provide the foodstuff yourself or we would be happy to discuss with you what produce we can supply for use in your cooking at any particular time.
